baby food

With each of my boys I have enjoyed making homemade baby food. With Collin I did it really well in the beginning and then tappered off. With Ronan I did some but he threw everything up in the beginning and didn't really get to eat much until he was ready for finger foods. With Dylan however, I'm stocking up and ready to go!

So to make my baby food, in case you were on the edge of your seat waiting, I simply steam the vegetables, or for apples cook them in the crockpot,
puree them in my Magic Bullet, or blender for bigger batches,
and spread the puree into icecube trays to freeze. (I bought trays with lids at Dillon's)
When the food is frozen I pop them out and put them into labeled freezer bags for later.
So easy! Each cube is approximately 1 oz of food. So far I have made peas, carrots, green beans, zucchini and applesauce. We haven't tried the applesauce yet, and are going to try green beans tonight. So far he hates carrots and peas but loves the zucchini, especially when I mix it with oatmeal. Wouldn't be my first pick, but he loves it and last night..... he FINALLY slept through the night. Dan had to rock him for about 3 minutes in the middle of the night, but otherwise he slept from 9:30-7:00. Awesome! Hopefully it continues because it was the first time I had slept through the night in nearly 3 years!

Josh loved the bullet for his baby food making stint. And I just wanted to let you know that both Josh and I thought your boys were incredible at Christmas. You should be a very proud mama to have such great kids. And for Josh to notice and comment on something like that it has to really make an impact on him--typical guy.

I think I agree on Dylan about the carrots!

So why do you freeze it?

Sabrina- I freeze it so that it keeps for a long time. Making a lot and freezing it keeps me from having to make it every few days!

Tara- Thank you so much! We are proud indeed!
